DEEDS, INDENTURES AND CONVEYANCES

Deeds, Indentures and Conveyances of land must be lodged in the Registrar General's Office. Early records dating from 1788 - 1964 have been deposited in the Department of Archives. From these original and duplicate manuscripts, information such as the names of the land owners, location and size of the land can be gleaned as well as the names of owners of adjacent properties. The Registrar General's Collection is quite extensive yet many of the original documents generated in the past have not been deposited or have not been located. Microfilm copies of these available records, however, are accessible to the public.

The Supreme Court Collection also contains land deeds, conveyances, indentures and bills of sale dating from 1759 - 1955. The records are in manuscript form and are extremely fragile. Public handling of these documents will not be allowed.
